There are many reasons why you may wish your child to try a dance class, from the physical and psychological adaptations to the social benefits. We want everyone's first steps in dance to be happy, safe & supported and for all children to see and feel their development as they progress on their dance journey.
DanSci Dance Studio provides an all-inclusive recreational dance platform for children to learn technique, gain confidence, be inspired and become creative thinkers who lead an active lifestyle. We believe in developing thinking dancers with a solid grounding in technique and scientific knowledge, as well as fun and artistry. With performance opportunities throughout the year and the option to join our crew and show teams there is something for everyone at DanSci Dance Studio's children's dance classes in Exeter!

We offer a number of different dance styles. Below is a description of the classes we have on offer and the age these classes start from. If any take your fancy you can clck through for more information and our booking schedule page. Discover the best styles for your child and we can help you on your dance journey by booking a three week introductory trial.
From experience, we know it can be a little daunting trying something new, it can take a few weeks to settle into a class and get a real 'feel' for the style hence our policy of an introductory three week trial. By the third session both yourself and your budding star will have grown in confidence and be able to make an informed decision on whether the class is the right style for them.
Should a class say 'Waiting List' you can still book a place but you will not be charged. We will contact you as soon as a slot becomes available.
We appreciate that not all parents want their children to become professional dancers. While we encourage everyone to try their best and reach their own personal dance goals we also take the matter of educating your child seriously and look to your support, whether that's helping them to be on time for class or discussing their learning and watching their performances. We all learnt maths at school but not many of us became accountants, learning to dance is the same. Everyone can benefit from the life lessons learnt through the arts.
babyballet 18 months to 6 years

DanSci Dance Studio is home of the awarding winning babyballet© Exeter Central, Song & Dance Academy. Providing a focus on learning through play, the unique babyballet syllabus offers four key stages of ballet and tap classes where every child can build their confidence and social skills, learning manners, discipline and respect while developing their basic ballet technique, coordination, musicality, balance, posture and rhythm.
We teach the babyballet programme to our Preschoolers at DanSci Dance Studio so that you know that your little star is learning through a proven system to help them increase their confidence and express their creativity while being supported in a safe environment with our experienced teachers.

We offer a sliding scale to our youth class pricing. The more weekly classes you attend the cheaper each session becomes!
We are a registered Learning Destination for Devon’s Children University. All our youth classes are validated through the University of Plymouth so that children from the age of 7 years can work towards nationally recognised awards.

Competition & Performance Teams
As well as non-competitive children’s dance classes we also have a show team which perform regularly at events and festivals. The children have enjoyed great success and thoroughly enjoy their experiences on stage. Our Junior crew have qualified for the world championships and six nations this season.
With a mix of the different dance styles there is opportunity for everyone who wants to get involved to join group numbers or perform solos. However, we do insist on dedication from both parents and children. To keeps costs to a minimum we volunteer our time & studio space and the parent committee organises fundraising, social events, costumes and travel to make this a real community experience.
